Too often, it is the youth of our community who bear the brunt of traffic violence. We of Ulster County are reeling from the tragic loss of four young people due to traffic violence: Dylan Gokey, 16, Jack Noble, 17, Starllie Swonyoung, 21, and Raymond Rattray, 22. In the space of just a couple weeks, we have suffered three horrific fatal crashes. My thoughts are with the family and friends of those killed.
Powerful , so sad - I can’t believe there have been so many traffic deaths. They may not find the people who did this because they stop talking about it - I pray we find ways to make people safer.
Jeez…that is awful. I’m sorry. I cringe to think about the victim blaming that inevitably follows such tragedies. If folks spent their energy advocating for active transportation and safe infrastructure for vulnerable road users instead of talking about clothing, blinky lights, and helmets we would might move a step or two toward reducing the violence we engineer into our roadways.
I love your perspective and grasp of knowledge on this important topic. I was not sure if you were aware of this article so I am including the link.
